USS at Carrboro Creek Week
Urban Sustainability Solutions was excited to table and present at Carrboro Creek Week, connecting with community members to share how local action can reduce stormwater impacts and protect our waterways.
At our table, we spread the word about our Growing More Than Rain Gardens program for Orange County students, running May 19–June 6, 2026. This hands-on spring program introduces students to green stormwater infrastructure, environmental problem-solving, and real-world sustainability practices. Student registration is now open, and we were thrilled to see strong interest from families and educators.
We also invited homeowners living in the Bolin Creek Watershed to sign up for a free drainage evaluation, helping residents identify practical solutions to manage runoff and prevent erosion and property damage.
During the event, USS Founder Michael Dupree gave a brief presentation highlighting our core programs. Using an interactive role-play activity, he demonstrated how we collaborate with municipalities, teachers, students, and landowners to mitigate stormwater damage through education, planning, and on-the-ground solutions.
Thank you to everyone who stopped by, asked questions, and helped make Carrboro Creek Week a success. We look forward to continuing this work together this spring.
