Raleigh: Mayberry Place

This residential project on Mayberry Place in Raleigh focused on improving stormwater management while enhancing curb appeal through the installation of a functional and visually engaging rain garden.

The homeowner was provided with a custom design to capture runoff from two front downspouts, directing water into a carefully planned rain garden. Initial excavation and site preparation were completed by Aguilar’s Lawn and Landscape in collaboration with our Project Manager, Alex Shanklin.

The project was then completed with the help of one of our Spring cohorts of students from Millbrook Magnet High School, offering a valuable hands-on learning experience in sustainable landscaping practices. The team constructed the garden’s berm and weir to manage water distribution and overflow effectively.

The final touch included a diverse selection of native pollinator plants and perennial species, chosen for their ability to thrive in varying moisture conditions while supporting local ecosystems. The garden was finished with mulch to promote moisture retention, suppress weeds, and provide a clean, cohesive appearance.
