USS at American Public Works Association

This year, USS was pleased to present at the American Public Works Association’s North Carolina conference, connecting with over 400 professionals from Public Works departments across the state.

Our presentation highlighted the impact of our Growing More Than Rain Gardens program, which brings stormwater education directly to students and teachers in Orange County and the City of Raleigh. We shared how our hands-on training—focused on designing and installing rain gardens—helps build environmental awareness while supporting real improvements for local homeowners.

By training educators and empowering students to take part in green infrastructure projects, we’re helping communities manage stormwater more effectively and sustainably. The response from attendees was enthusiastic as we led them in a role playing experience where each group learned exactly how our program operates.

It was a great chance to show how education and public works can work hand-in-hand to create lasting environmental benefits.
