First Day at Millbrook High

Thursday April 18th, was the first day for the Growing More Than Rain Gardens student apprenticeship program. Five teachers and twenty-nine students from Millbrook High School took part by completing pre-tests and starting their first lesson. Founder of USS, Michael Dupree, was invited to briefly speak to the students, encouraging them in their pursuit of STEM education. Students will meet each week after school for in-classroom and on-site learning for the next 6 weeks, then put their knowledge to the test and complete an installation of a cistern and rain garden for a local homeowner. We at USS are delighted to see such genuine interest in urban ecosystem sustainability and look forward to these young minds’ growing success!
